At Nissi Project Uganda, we believe that education is more than just learning – it’s the key to break the cycle of poverty, key to confidence, and hope. For many of our children, school was once out of reach. Some had never stepped into a classroom, while others had their education interrupted by hardship. Here, we give them the chance to begin again.
While we currently partner with local schools, every child in our care is enrolled in school, supported by dedicated supporters or receives personalized academic support, mentorship, and tutoring to ensure they succeed in their studies. We provide school supplies, uniforms, and everything they need to feel proud and prepared. Our goal is to help children build a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking.

We build new classrooms, repair dilapidated structures, install rainwater harvesting systems, and construct separate sanitation facilities for girls — creating safe, dignified learning environments.

Full and partial scholarships cover tuition, uniforms, exam fees, and learning materials for the most vulnerable children — especially orphans, girls, and children with disabilities.

We invest in teachers through workshops on child-centred pedagogy, inclusive education for children with disabilities, digital literacy, and psychosocial support techniques.

Dedicated programmes tackle gender-specific barriers: menstrual hygiene management, community attitudes toward girls' schooling, early marriage prevention, and girls' leadership clubs.
A structured, evidence-based approach ensures every intervention is targeted, measurable, and sustainable.
We begin every intervention with a thorough needs assessment — consulting parents, teachers, local leaders, and children themselves to understand the real barriers.
Based on data, we design programmes that address the most critical gaps — whether it's a missing classroom, an under-trained teacher, or families who can't afford fees.
Our field teams deliver interventions with continuous monitoring — tracking enrolment, attendance, and learning outcomes in real-time through our M&E system.
We measure impact through annual learning assessments and transition rates, then work with communities and government to sustain gains long after our direct involvement ends.
