The Reality

Challenges We're Addressing

Uganda's healthcare system faces deep, systemic challenges. Here's what we're up against — and how we're responding.

Lack of Access to Clinics

Many rural communities do not have a nearby health facility. Children often suffer from preventable or treatable conditions because they cannot reach a doctor in time.

Our solution: Partnering with local clinics & mobile outreach

Malnutrition

Many children arrive with severe malnutrition, leading to stunted growth, weakened immune systems, and deep exhaustion that affects their daily lives.

Our solution: Nutritional support & recovery programs

Untreated Trauma

Years of uncertainty, poverty, and loss leave children with deep emotional scars. Mental health is often overlooked, yet it is crucial for overall well-being.

Our solution: Counselling, mentorship & psychosocial support

Poor Oral Health

Dental care is a luxury in many parts of Uganda. Untreated cavities and infections cause severe pain, leading to difficulties eating and concentrating in school.

Our solution: Regular dental check-ups & hygiene education

Preventable Diseases

A lack of knowledge about basic hygiene and sanitation leads to high rates of preventable diseases like cholera, dysentery, and respiratory infections.

Our solution: Health education & sanitation workshops

Cost of Treatment

Even when clinics are available, the cost of medicine and treatment is prohibitive for vulnerable families, leaving children without necessary care.

Our solution: Fully funding treatments for children in need

Common Questions

Medical Care Programme FAQ

Answers to the most common questions about our healthcare work.

We have established partnerships with local clinics and hospitals in the districts we serve. When a child needs medical attention, our team coordinates directly with these partner facilities to ensure they receive prompt, professional care. For severe cases, we transport children to larger regional hospitals.
Our dental care program includes regular check-ups, treatment for cavities and infections, and basic dental procedures. More importantly, we focus heavily on prevention through hygiene education, teaching children proper brushing techniques and providing them with dental hygiene kits.
We recognize that emotional well-being is just as important as physical health. Our trained counselors and mentors work with children individually and in groups to help them process trauma, stress, and other challenges. We provide a safe, supportive environment where children can heal emotionally.
Yes! While our primary focus is on the children in our care, we believe in empowering entire communities. We periodically host health education workshops that teach basic hygiene, sanitation, and healthy habits to parents and community members, helping to reduce the overall risk of illness.
On average, it costs approximately $150 per year to provide comprehensive medical care for a child. This includes regular check-ups, any necessary treatments, dental care, nutritional support, and access to counseling services. However, costs can vary significantly depending on the child's specific health needs.
Absolutely! We have a specific medical sponsorship program that allows donors to directly fund the healthcare needs of a child. You will receive updates on the child's health and well-being, ensuring you see the direct impact of your generosity. Visit our Sponsor page for more details.
Our field teams are trained to identify and respond to medical emergencies quickly. We have protocols in place with our partner hospitals to ensure children receive immediate attention in critical situations. Transportation is always available to ensure no time is lost when a child's life is at risk.
